Baldwin served honorably in the U.S. Army as an artillery officer. Todd was assigned to an infantry company in the 101st Airborne Division, as a fire support officer. He deployed to the tumultuous city of Samarra, Iraq from 2007-2008. During his time in Iraq, Baldwin led his platoon of 32 soldiers with great poise and dignity, in one of the most challenging environments.
Upon completion of his commitment to the U.S. Army, Baldwin began his civilian career working for an Information and Technology staffing company. Quickly realizing that this was not going to be the path that he wished to pursue for a lifelong career, Baldwin turned to brewing his own beer. While living in Little Rock, Arkansas Todd wrote the first business plan for Red Leg Brewing Company in 2011 and decided to make his dream a reality in July 2012.
Todd and his wife Jamie moved to Colorado and on July 4, 2013, Baldwin launched Red Leg Brewing Company in Colorado Springs, Colorado with the Mission of “serving those who serve.” Red Leg’s unique name derives itself from the American Civil War when soldiers wore red stripes down their pant legs to denote their location on the battlefield.
Red Leg Brewing Company has quickly become one of the fastest growing breweries in Colorado. On opening day Red Leg produced approximately 15 gallons of their military themed beer a day. Today, the brewery manufactures 620 gallons a day. In April 2014 Red Leg Brewing Company was awarded a Bronze Medal from the World Beer Cup®, which many regard as one of the most prestigious beer competitions in the world.
Baldwin’s plan for Red Leg Brewing Company is to expand the brewery to provide its award winning craft beer to every US Military base in the world. Staying true to his brewery’s mission of continuing his service, “by serving those who serve.”
